Intraneural ganglion cysts can cause foot drop (FD) by compressing the common peroneal nerve (CPN). This case highlights the importance of considering cysts in FD diagnosis, especially when trauma is absent.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Orthopedics
- Surgical Pathology
Background:
- Foot drop (FD) is characterized by impaired dorsiflexion, leading to gait abnormalities and increased fall risk.
- Intraneural ganglion cysts are rare, benign cystic lesions within peripheral nerves.
- The association between intraneural ganglion cysts and FD is uncommon but clinically significant.
