Abstract:
We present CoO-NiO heterostructure nanosheets as an efficient electrocatalyst for the oxidation of biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA). The catalyst achieves 100% HMF conversion, 98.7% FDCA yield, and 98.5% faradaic efficiency, with density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealing interfacial electron redistribution for enhanced performance.
