Aims:
The purpose of this case series is to discuss the effect of orthodontic treatment (OT) on the regenerative surgery of furcation defects.
Material And Methods:
This was a consecutive case series with a 5-year follow-up. Eight patients of stage III periodontitis with 10 mandibular Class II buccal furcation defects were included. The furcation defects were treated by guided tissue regeneration combined with bone graft and concentrated growth factors. OT was started at 1-year post-surgery. Clinical examination and CBCT were performed at baseline, 12 months post-surgery, and 5 years post-surgery.
Results:
The mean clinical attachment loss and probing depth improved from baseline to different time points post-surgery. And there were no significant changes at subsequent time points post-surgery (P > .05). A statistically significant reduction in the mean horizontal, vertical bone loss, and volume of furcation defects from baseline to different time points post-surgery has been shown (P < .001). No statistically significant difference was observed between 1-year and 5 years post-surgery (P > .05).
Conclusions:
In summary, the combined regenerative therapy showed good results in the treatment of furcation defects. Moreover, the combined regenerative therapy was shown to be maintained throughout and following orthodontic treatment.

pre-mRNA Processing
Once about 20-40 ribonucleotides have been joined together by RNA polymerase, a group of enzymes adds a “cap” to the 5’ end of the growing transcript. In this process, a 5’ phosphate is replaced by modified guanosine that has a methyl group attached to it (7-Methyl...

Antibody Structure and Classes
The basic structure of an antibody consists of four protein chains: two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains. These chains are held together by disulfide bonds and other non-covalent interactions, forming a Y-shaped structure.
Pre-mRNA Processing: Modification of pre-mRNA Ends
Once about 20-40 ribonucleotides have been joined together by RNA polymerase, a group of enzymes adds a cap to the 5' end of the growing transcript. In this process, a 5' phosphate is replaced by modified guanosine that has a methyl group attached (7-methyl guanosine). This 5' cap helps...
