Verhoeff-van Gieson May Distinguish Desmoplastic Melanoma From Re-Excision Scar

The Verhoeff-van Gieson (EVG) stain can help differentiate desmoplastic melanoma (DM) from scar tissue by identifying elastin fibers. Most DM cases showed preserved elastin, unlike scars which lacked it.
