Ulna Contour Plating With Annular Ligament Repair for Pediatric Monteggia Fracture-Dislocation Equivalent With Ulnar

Case:
We describe a 10-year-old girl who sustained an anterior radial head dislocation with ulnar plastic deformation. Closed reduction under sedation failed to maintain radial head alignment. A novel technique of ulnar contour plating without osteotomy was used for definitive stabilization. In contrast to using a traditional ulnar osteotomy, this case highlights a unique technique for treating pediatric Monteggia fracture-dislocation equivalents with ulnar plastic deformation. At the 28-month follow-up, successful clinical and radiographic outcomes were observed.
Conclusion:
Contour plating of the ulna without osteotomy can successfully treat pediatric Monteggia fracture-dislocation equivalents with ulnar plastic deformation.
