Robotic Arm-Assisted Total Knee Arthroplasty for Osteoarthritis Associated with Osteopetrosis: A Case Report

Case:
A 74-year-old woman with osteopetrosis presented with severe right knee pain and difficulty walking due to osteoarthritis. She underwent robotic arm-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA). Although the saw blade did not require replacement during surgery, a fracture associated with the tibial checkpoint occurred. The error of implant placement from the intraoperative plan was within 3.4°. After 1 year, the Forgotten Joint Score was 77, and she was independent in activities of daily living.
Conclusion:
RA-TKA allows safe and precise bone resection, achieving appropriate alignment even in osteopetrosis. Surgeons should be aware of fractures associated with checkpoints.
