How to manage an early biologic complication after immediate implant placement: case report with a 2-year follow-up
Abstract:
Immediate implant placement is a clinically and scientifically proven treatment method for single-tooth replacement in esthetically relevant areas. Patients highly value this method due to its minimal invasiveness. Despite similar success and survival rates to conventional implants, complications can occur even if strict inclusion criteria are applied. The occurrence of early biologic complications during the healing phase is an infrequent phenomenon, and to date there has been no documentation of such cases in the literature. This case report describes the onset of an early inflammation that clinically presented as a fistula tract with suppuration and demonstrates in detail the successful surgical infection control and subsequent esthetic rehabilitation by means of a connective tissue graft from the tuberosity with a 2-year follow-up.
