Herbal and Herbomineral Preparation in Neurodegenerative Disorder

Abstract:
Herbal remedies are valuable in the treatment of a wide range of illnesses, primarily because of their strong therapeutic potential and improved patient acceptability in the face of various medical issues. The application of selectively isolated phytomedicine, whole plants, or portions of them in herbal medicine has its advantages and disadvantages and has changed significantly throughout time. The modern era's quest for novel medications rekindles interest in the 20 th century's discoveries of herbal medications derived from various natural resources. Within the current modern healthcare system, 50% of the drugs used are of natural origin. The discovery of herbal drugs has been found to be an extremely expensive endeavor with a low success rate, which has impeded the advancement of using phytomedicine to treat various diseases. However, in recent years, there has been a surge in interest in herbal drugs, primarily from the pharmaceutical industry and those involved in the search for new, novel phytomedicines. The search for these new, novel phytomedicines must overcome a number of obstacles, including the identification of active extracts and their toxicity, side effects, interactions with other drugs, and most importantly, regulatory requirements. The present review mainly focused on the history of herbal and herbomineral preparation, and also its issues with drug discovery using herbal resources are also discussed, along with potential remedies.
