Interplay between dose, dose rate and endpoint in the tissue sparing effect of FLASH radiotherapy

Abstract:
FLASH tissue sparing involves an interplay between dose, dose-rate and investigated endpoint. A risk zone map that divides the two-dimensional dose - dose-rate-space into different toxicity risk zones based on previous in-vivo data illustrates this interplay intuitively, including why FLASH sparing manifests at lower dose rates for severe compared to mild toxicity.
