Psychiatric manifestations in dengue: A case series and review

Dengue virus fever is a mosquito-borne disease resulting in a serious flu-like sickness with high temperature, intense joint and muscle ache, reduced blood platelets, skin rashes, and a tendency to bleed. Neurological complications following dengue infection are common. Although psychiatric sequelae have been rarely recognised, a few cases have been documented in the last 5-7 years. In this set of instances, we describe four individuals, who experienced acute psychiatric symptoms during or the right after a dengue infection and had no history of mental disease in the past or their family.
