Background:
Human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the leading cause of acute respiratory tract infection in infants. In 2024-2025, a maternal RSV vaccination during pregnancy was available for the first time and integrated in the preventive strategy OBJECTIVE: To identify predictive factors associated with maternal RSV vaccination during pregnancy.
Study Design:
We performed a single center retrospective study, from September 15, 2024, to January 31st, 2025, of pregnant women between 32 and 36 weeks of gestation between during this period. The primary outcome was the RSV immunization coverage during pregnancy and before discharge from postnatal ward with interest in factors associated with RSV maternal vaccination.
Results:
The overall incidence of RSV immunization was 64.6 % distributed as follow: 38.7 % pregnant women received RSV bivalent prefusion F vaccine (n = 511) and 41.4 % neonates received Nirsevimab (n = 351). Factors associated with maternal vaccination were professional activities before or during pregnancy and some geographic origins.
Conclusion:
Being employed before or during pregnancy and some geographic origins were associated with maternal RSV vaccination during pregnancy.
