Abstract:
Neurodegenerative diseases affect the cognitive functions, particularly communication, of those who suffer from them. Faced with this difficulty, caregivers often rely on the support of family members. Providing moral support and facilitating communication, family members are considered essential partners, playing a crucial role in the quality of exchanges and clinical and ethical decision-making. This study analyzes the communicational phenomenon of caregiver-care recipient dyads in order to identify the metacommunicational aspects that enable them to understand each other, as well as the obstacles and facilitators that preserve their interactions, with a view to developing a more appropriate caregiver-dyad support system.
