Summary

Percutaneous retroperitoneal splenorenal shunt (PRESS) creation offers an alternative treatment for gastric and esophageal variceal bleeding when transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) is not feasible. This procedure effectively decompresses the portal venous system, reducing hemorrhage risk.
