Abstract:
Thiamphenicol (TAP) and florfenicol (FF) residues in animal-derived foods pose considerable human health concerns. Therefore, developing a rapid and sensitive method for TAP and FF is necessary. In this study, a time-resolved fluorescent microsphere-based lateral flow immunoassay (TRFM-LFIA) integrated with a smartphone-based portable fluorescence analyzer was established for the rapid and sensitive detection of TAP and FF in foods. Under optimal conditions, the limit of detection of the TRFM-LFIA for TAP and FF was 0.02 ng/mL, which was 29.5- and 19.5-fold more sensitive than that of the conventional gold nanoparticles-based lateral flow immunoassay. The recoveries of TAP and FF in spiked real samples were 82.72%-114.10% and 103.78%-116.50%, respectively, with a coefficient of variation of less than 13%. These results indicate that the smartphone-integrated TRFM-LFIA can be used as an effective tool for the on-site detection of TAP and FF in animal-derived foods.
