Abstract:
This study introduces a novel hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (DES), composed of Aliquat 336 and salicylaldehyde, as a highly efficient extraction medium for the rapid preconcentration and spectrophotometric determination of Brilliant Green (BG) and Rhodamine B (RB) dyes in food samples. The proposed DES overcomes key limitations of conventional hydrophilic DESs by ensuring excellent phase separation, preventing emulsions, and enabling efficient extraction from complex matrices. The developed deep eutectic solvent-based air-assisted liquid-liquid microextraction(DES-AA-LLME) method is optimized to be rapid (∼5 min) and environmentally friendly. It demonstrates high analytical performance, with low detection limits (8.7 and 3.6 μg L-1 for BG and RB, respectively), excellent linearity, and satisfactory precision (RSDs <2.5%). Recovery rates from spiked food samples ranged from 96.00% to 99.83%, confirming the method's accuracy and robustness for routine monitoring of synthetic dyes.
