Abstract:
Nursing faces an existential moment with direct threats to the infrastructure that supports our work. The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation and the Rita and Alex Hillman Foundation share a longstanding commitment to advancing nursing leadership and innovation. The National Program Office of the Betty Irene Moore Fellowship for Nurse Leaders and Innovators and the Hillman Foundation have worked closely over the last year to pool data from our grantees and distill key recommendations to successfully navigate the present chaos while simultaneously reimagining a better future. There are four promising solutions: Creative coalitions and unconventional partnerships, innovative testing and dissemination, strategic communications, and dynamic professional communities. The current crisis offers an unprecedented opportunity to innovate and ultimately strengthen nursing science. Now is the time to embrace the contributions of early to mid-career nurse scientists to shaping our preferred future. All of our organizations can benefit from their creativity and commitment.
