Super-resolution Fluorescence Microscopy01:37

Super-resolution Fluorescence Microscopy

12.3K
Super-resolution fluorescence microscopy (SRFM) provides a better resolution than conventional fluorescence microscopy by reducing the point spread function (PSF). PSF is the light intensity distribution from a point that causes it to appear blurred. Due to PSF, each fluorescing point appears bigger than its actual size, and it is the PSF interference of nearby fluorophores that causes the blurred image. Various approaches to achieving higher resolution through SRFM have recently been...

Area of Science:

  • Materials Science
  • Optoelectronics
  • Sensor Technology

Background:

  • The growth of AIoT requires sensors with both visual and machine-readable outputs.
  • Existing sensors often lack simultaneous, integrated functionalities.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop a multifunctional sensor for AIoT.
  • To integrate near-infrared detection with visible light emission.
  • To enable secure communication through a novel encryption strategy.

Main Methods:

  • Demonstration of a solution-processed optoelectronic fusion-upconversion device (OEF-UCD).
  • Utilized a transfer-printed functional layer to address interface challenges.
  • Evaluated optoelectronic performance including image quality and electrical readout.

Main Results:

  • Achieved high-quality visible imaging (2303 ppi, 8.2 × 10^4 contrast ratio) and robust electrical readout (0.47 A W^-1 responsivity, 121 dB dynamic range).
  • Performance comparable to leading organic photodetectors.
  • Enabled a secure encryption strategy based on the temporal linkage of optical and electrical outputs.

Conclusions:

  • The OEF-UCD offers a low-cost, conformable, and energy-efficient platform for AIoT.
  • Integrates sensing, display, and secure communication.
  • Enhances information perception and processing for AIoT.
