Summary
This study reports the first case of pituitary dysfunction, including growth hormone deficiency and central hypothyroidism, after [177Lu]Lu-DOTATATE therapy for neuroblastoma. Early screening for pituitary issues is recommended for children undergoing this treatment.
Area of Science:
- Pediatric Oncology
- Endocrinology
- Nuclear Medicine
Background:
- Neuroblastoma treatment with chemotherapy and [131I]MIBG can cause endocrine issues.
- Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy using [177Lu]Lu-DOTATATE targets somatostatin receptors in neuroblastoma.
- No endocrine effects were previously reported for [177Lu]Lu-DOTATATE in children.
