The development of compact, low-loss photonic integrated circuits (PICs) is critical for advancing on-chip optical technologies. Bloch surface waves (BSWs), supported by all-dielectric multilayers, present a promising platform for PICs due to their significantly lower propagation losses compared to their plasmonic counterparts. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a one-step lithographic PIC on a BSW platform. The device integrates a BSW distributed feedback (DFB) laser, a 100 μm-long BSW waveguide, and a BSW grating coupler on a single chip. The BSW DFB laser exhibits robust, single-mode lasing with a narrow full-width at half-maximum (fwhm) of 0.11 nm. We show that the laser emission can be successfully guided through the waveguide and subsequently extracted by the grating out-coupler, confirming the functional integration of all components. This demonstration validates the feasibility of using BSWs to create high-performance, long-range, and compact all-surface-wave integrated photonic systems.
