Abstract:
Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic autoimmune disease with a multifactorial etiology, resulting from the interaction between genetic susceptibility and environmental factors. These interactions lead to the loss of immune tolerance and the development of autoimmunity directed against citrullinated proteins. The transition to arthritis is accompanied by the maturation of the humoral immune response and the activation of specific T-cell subsets. Early identification of high-risk individuals will enable the development of preventive strategies aimed at altering the disease's natural course.
