Fifteen-minute consultation: Integrated child health: Part 3 - How to design and implement locally

Based on a review of global exemplars and local UK experiences, in the third of our series, this article provides a practical framework for designing and implementing integrated child health services at a local level. It responds to the national vision of 'Neighbourhood Health' by distilling key design principles from successful models. The proposed framework is built on five core pillars: establishing a co-produced, person-centred vision that addresses social determinants; nurturing strong multidisciplinary relationships and trust; fostering a supportive culture that embeds continuous improvement and learning; effectively harnessing shared digital tools and data; and implementing the right incentives and outcome measures to gauge impact and drive change. This final paper of the series provides an actionable 'how-to' guide for the core components defined in part 2, in order to realise the vision for integrated care set out in part 1.
