Abstract:
To provide guidance on the use of extracorporeal life support in lung transplant patients, a 3-part consensus statement by a multidisciplinary team was developed and approved by the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation standard and guidelines committee, with each part focusing on a different phase of care: preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care. This review will highlight and summarize the key points most relevant to the cardiac anesthesiologist when caring for these patients.
