Objective:
Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a congenital heart disease whose neonatal surgical correction by atrial switch (ATSO) or arterial switch (ASO) now allows many women to reach childbearing age.
Methods:
We conducted a retrospective, single-center observational study (Caen University Hospital, 1991-2024) including 14 women with TGA (33 pregnancies).
Results:
Of the pregnancies, 72.7% reached term. The miscarriage rate was comparable to that of the general population. Vaginal delivery was possible in 62.5% of cases. Only one patient (ATSO) experienced severe cardiac complications. Postpartum follow-up showed globally stable ventricular function, with no significant progression of minor aortic regurgitation after ASO or systemic right ventricular dysfunction after ATSO.
Conclusion:
Pregnancy is generally well tolerated in women with repaired TGA, particularly.
