Varicocele repair for chronic orchialgia

Chronic orchialgia in the setting of a clinical varicocele often is treated with varicocele repair. This article provides a comprehensive summary of the current literature regarding the efficacy of varicocele repair as a treatment for chronic orchialgia. A targeted search of PubMed and Embase was conducted for studies published within the last 10 years (2016-2026). The search focused on clinical outcomes with regards to pain after microsurgical, laparoscopic, and radiologic interventions. Prospective and retrospective studies were prioritized and the data were synthesized. We provide recommendations on the basis of the literature and experience of the author.
