Tarlatamab immunotherapy can cause pseudoprogression in small-cell lung cancer patients. Blood test changes like decreased lymphocytes and elevated interleukin-6 may help distinguish this from true tumor progression.
Area of Science:
- Oncology
- Immunotherapy
- Cancer Research
Background:
- Tarlatamab is a bispecific T-cell engager targeting delta-like ligand 3 and CD3.
- Tarlatamab treatment can induce T-cell infiltration into tumors, a mechanism relevant to treatment response and toxicity.
- Pseudoprogression (PsPD) is a phenomenon where tumor appears to enlarge due to immune cell infiltration, not actual tumor growth.

Tumor Progression
Colon cancer is one of the best-documented examples of tumor progression. Early mutation in the APC gene in colon cells causes a small growth on the colon wall called a polyp. With time, this polyp grows into a benign, pre-cancerous tumor. Further...
