Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the integration of an HPV-based screening protocol in low-resource clinics.
  • To assess patient preferences for self-collection versus provider-collection.
  • To determine the feasibility of same-day or subsequent-day colposcopy and treatment.

Main Methods:

  • Implemented point-of-care High Risk HPV (HR-HPV) screening.
  • Offered both self- and provider-collected samples based on patient preference.
  • Provided colposcopy and thermal ablation for HR-HPV positive patients.

Main Results:

  • Screened 62 patients with a 31% HR-HPV positivity rate.
  • 60% of patients preferred self-collection, while 40% preferred provider collection.
  • 53% of HR-HPV positive patients completed colposcopy, with a 47% loss to follow-up.

Conclusions:

  • HPV screening is feasible in low-resource clinics.
  • Patient preference for self-collection is high.
