Editorial Commentary: Use of Navigational Assistance for Hip Femoroacetabular Impingement Surgery Does Not Guarantee
1Associate Editor, Nirschl Orthopaedic Center, Arlington, Virginia, U.S.A.
Abstract:
Navigational assistance for arthroscopic hip femoroacetabular impingement surgery does not equate to a more precise femoroplasty. Traction sutures, interportal capsulotomies, and curved burrs can improve access. A well done cam osteoplasty is only one part of a successful hip arthroscopy, and factors such as atraumatic access and labral and capsular management are important for optimal outcomes.
