Huygens' principle and Hilbert integral to propagate wavefronts through chromatic separated doublets
None:
We study the propagation of refracted wavefronts through chromatically separated doublets, considering an incident plane wavefront incoming to the optical system. Based on Huygens' principle and Hilbert integral, we define piecewise functions to fully represent the shape of wavefronts propagated through two conic lenses immersed in air, having a tiny distance of separation between them. Alternatively, by varying the design parameters such as curvature radii, axial thicknesses, and refractive indices, it is possible to reduce the size and modify the shape of the caustic surfaces for evaluating the circle of least confusion. Finally, we provide two different approaches to represent the shape of propagated wavefronts at the second order, which are related to the envelopes for all refracted rays.

Properties of Fourier Transform II
The Frequency Shifting property of Fourier Transforms highlights that a shift in the frequency domain corresponds to a phase shift in the time domain. Mathematically, if x(t) has...
Propagation of Waves
Consider a scenario where a wave propagates from a string of low linear mass density to a string of high linear mass density. In such a case, the reflected wave is out of phase with respect to the incident wave, however the...

Interference: Path Lengths
Two special sources may be considered when they are in phase. This can be easily achieved by feeding the two sources from the same source. An example would be synchronizing the two speakers by feeding them with the same source, such as the sound waves produced by a tuning fork. This setup ensures that the two sources have the same frequency and are...
Interference and Superposition of Waves
Interference occurs in mechanical waves, such as sound waves, waves on a string, and surface water waves. Mechanical waves correspond to the physical displacement of particles. Hence,...
