Multi-wavelength design and off-axis optimization of a hybrid Fresnel concentrator for enhanced irradiance uniformity
Abstract:
This study presents the design and analysis of a compact, multi-zone, multi-wavelength hybrid Fresnel lens concentrator for solar energy applications. The system utilizes a single Fresnel lens incorporating refractive prisms, single total internal reflection prisms, and double total internal reflection prisms to improve light management across various incident angles. The nine-wavelength design approach reduces chromatic aberration and enhances irradiance uniformity. To alleviate hotspot issues, off-axis focal adjustments were applied and optimized based on refractive index grouping. The simulation results demonstrate a geometric concentration ratio of 2864×, an optical efficiency of 37.496%, a uniformity of 53.758%, and a Z-score of 1.3679. The final design achieves high uniformity, high concentration, and low F-number, offering an effective and compact solution for solar concentrator systems.
