Modeling and recognition of complex interference patterns in multi-surface phase-shifting interferometry
Abstract:
Traditional multi-surface phase-shifting interferometry (MS-PSI) algorithms are highly sensitive to phase-shift accuracy and experimental conditions. To address these limitations, we propose MSAI-Net (multi-scale attention interference network), which combines multi-scale convolutional feature extraction with SE attention and hierarchical LSTM-self-attention modules for robust fringe recognition. A simulated dataset incorporating nonlinear wavelength modulation and first- and second-order interference was constructed, with phase labels discretized into 500 classes. Simulation results show that MSAI-Net achieves 96.15% accuracy and remains robust to phase-shift errors and higher-order interference. Experimental validation further demonstrates low RMS error under phase deviations up to ±25%, confirming that MSAI-Net provides a reliable solution for high-accuracy multi-surface interferometric measurement.

Phase Contrast and Differential Interference Contrast Microscopy
In-phase-contrast microscopes, interference between light directly passing through a cell and light refracted by cellular components is used to create high-contrast, high-resolution images without staining. It is the oldest and simplest type of microscope that creates an image by altering the wavelengths of light rays passing through the specimen. Altered wavelength paths are created using an annular stop in the condenser. The annular stop produces a hollow cone of...
Interference: Path Lengths
Two special sources may be considered when they are in phase. This can be easily achieved by feeding the two sources from the same source. An example would be synchronizing the two speakers by feeding them with the same source, such as the sound waves produced by a tuning fork. This setup ensures that the two sources have the same frequency and are...
