Background:
Continuous education plays a critical role in improving the competencies of healthcare professionals, especially within high-pressure environments like emergency departments (EDs). Despite its importance, limited evidence exists on its impact across multidisciplinary teams (MDTs). This study aimed to evaluate how continuous education influences the practice of MDTs in EDs in the Yanbu region of Saudi Arabia.
Methods:
A cross-sectional study involving 151 participants was conducted using stratified random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results:
Among participants, 51% were male, and 58% were nurses. Continuous education was significantly associated with improved diagnostic accuracy (89%), appropriate interventions (87%), and confidence in managing complex cases (83%). It also enhanced team collaboration (coefficient: 1.122, P < 0.001) and motivation (coefficient: 0.982, P < 0.001).
Conclusion:
Continuous education improves adherence to best practices and boosts professional confidence. Further research is recommended to explore long-term benefits and optimize educational strategies.
