Abstract:
The health impacts of climate change are increasingly evident, exacerbating health inequities and disproportionately affecting at-risk populations. Delays in addressing these challenges heighten risks, particularly in low-resource and humanitarian settings. Global health advocates call for immediate action to integrate health considerations into climate policies. Community Health Workers (CHWs) are essential in improving access to primary health services, but their roles must align with the Disaster Risk Management (DRM) framework. This commentary highlights multi-pronged strategies for effective climate-resilient community-based health programming to integrate CHWs into the national health system and DRM, fostering climate-resilient community health programs through system integration, climate-smart action, localized and evidence-based approaches, and stakeholder engagement.
