Current Trends in Nursing II

3.6K
Trends in nursing are multifactorial and associated with changes in society, within the nursing profession, and in other professions. Notably, telehealth and remote nursing contribute to successful healthcare delivery for numerous patients and help reduce stress for nurses due to nursing shortages. Nurses can reach patients, monitor their conditions, and interact with them using computers, audio, visual accessories, and telephones—for example, remote patient monitoring systems. Likewise,...

Issues And Trends In Healthcare Delivery System

6.4K
The issues and trends in healthcare delivery are constantly changing. The COVID-19 pandemic is one recent issue that wreaked havoc on healthcare systems, causing a shortage of healthcare workers, high demand for medicines and supplies, and increased medical expenditure due to a lack of insurance. Other issues include rising healthcare costs and care fragmentation.

Methods Of Healthcare Delivery System

4.2K
At the different levels of the healthcare system, we see varying methods of healthcare used. These methods include managed care systems, case management, and primary healthcare.
Managed Care System:
The managed care system is designed to control the cost while maintaining the quality of care. The patient's care from admission to discharge is planned by the primary care provider or the case manager, also known as the gatekeeper. In a managed care system, the number of care providers is...

Secondary Healthcare System01:11

Secondary Healthcare System

2.2K
Secondary healthcare is offered by a specialist, generally in hospitals or clinics for patients referred by primary healthcare providers. It occurs when a person has an illness or injury that requires specific medical care. Secondary care is often referred to as acute care. Secondary care can range from uncomplicated care to repair a minor laceration or treat a strep throat infection to more complicated emergent care, such as treating a head injury sustained in an automobile accident. Whatever...

Preventive Healthcare Services

2.3K
Preventive healthcare services keep people healthy via frequent check-ups, screening, and counseling. They primarily aid in disease prevention rather than treating an acute or chronic illness. Preventive treatment also keeps individuals productive and energetic, allowing them to work well into their retirement years. Examples of preventive care services include:

Area of Science:

  • Healthcare Management
  • Digital Health
  • Medical Informatics

Background:

  • Telemedicine adoption surged during the COVID-19 pandemic, yet tools to assess general practitioners' (GPs) attitudes and intentions are limited.
  • The Physicians' Attitudes and Intentions to use Telemedicine (PAIT) questionnaire was developed in Sweden (2019) and translated to English (2022).

Purpose of the Study:

  • To compare behavioral intentions and their predictors for telemedicine use among GPs in England and Sweden.
  • To explore cross-country similarities and differences in telemedicine adoption factors.

Main Methods:

  • A comparative study involving 52 English and 101 Swedish GPs.
  • Utilized the 33-item PAIT questionnaire assessing attitudes, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control, and intentions.
  • Included questions on telemedicine use, training, and demographics.

Main Results:

  • Both English and Swedish GPs reported low telemedicine training and post-pandemic usage.
  • Swedish GPs demonstrated significantly higher intentions for daily telemedicine use compared to English GPs.
  • Positive attitudes and higher perceived behavioral control were strongly linked to increased behavioral intentions in both national groups.

Conclusions:

  • The PAIT questionnaire is effective for cross-country comparisons of telemedicine adoption factors among GPs.
  • Findings highlight differences in telemedicine adoption intentions between English and Swedish GPs, influenced by attitudes and perceived control.
  • Further international studies can leverage the PAIT questionnaire for broader insights into global telemedicine trends.
