Abstract:
Polymyxins synthesized by Paenibacillus polymyxa are critical for the treatment of multidrug-resistant infections, but production suffers from low yield and high cost. This forum article focuses on strategies for engineering P. polymyxa cell factories by optimizing genetic transformation systems, gene editing tools, and metabolic engineering strategies to enable sustainable polymyxin production.
