Abstract:
This review focuses on the architecture of single-atom catalysts (SACs) on quantum dots (QDs), emphasizing their potential in renewable energy and environmental applications. SACs offer high atom-utilization efficiency and unique structural properties, making them highly effective in catalytic processes. By integrating SACs with QDs, researchers can leverage the strengths of both materials to enhance catalytic performance. The review explores the fundamental characteristics of SACs and the supporting role of QDs, followed by an overview of synthesis strategies and the coordination environment of single atoms. It also outlines the characterization techniques used to analyze SACs on QDs and provides examples of their successful implementation in various fields. Finally, it discusses the current challenges and prospects for the development and commercialization of SACs on QDs. This review aims to understand deeply how single-atom catalysts are decorated on quantum dots (SACs-QDs) systems and promote their wider adoption in real-world applications specifically in the area of renewable energy and environment for sustainable society.
