Max Horsnell, Gerry Winter, Denis Berman, Neil Swallow and Peter Heffer: Children's dentists at the London Hospital
1Honorary Professor in History of Dentistry, King's College London Emeritus-Professor of Dental Public Health, University of London.
Abstract:
Professor Gerald Winter is widely regarded as the father of paediatric dentistry in the United Kingdom.1 He was an inspiring teacher, researcher and administrator whose influence spread far beyond the UK. But who influenced him? The trail takes us to Max Horsnell at the London Hospital, who headed its strong children's dentistry department. Horsnell was himself swayed by Evelyn Sprawson; and in turn influenced others in addition to Winter.
