Abstract:
The present research focused on the synthesis of polyaniline and polyaniline-pyrazole (PANI-Pyz) copolymer and their antimicrobial activity. The produced PANI and PANI-Pyz were characterized using techniques such as UV-visible, FTIR, TGA, viscosity, BET, and conductivity measurement techniques. Further, the antibacterial properties of the PANI and PANI-Pyz were tested against S. aureus, B. subtilis, E. coli and P. aeruginosa. In contrast, the antifungal activity was tested against P. chrysogenum and A. niger was measured in minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and IC50. The results suggested that the inhibition rate of the PANI-Pyz copolymer was higher towards bacterial and fungal strains and exhibited significant antibacterial and antifungal activity compared to that of individual PANI.
