Low Toe-Brachial Indices are Associated with Saccular Intracranial Aneurysms

Low toe-brachial index (TBI), a marker for peripheral artery disease, is linked to a higher prevalence of unruptured intracranial aneurysms (IAs). This finding suggests a role for atherosclerosis in IA development.

- Low TBI is associated with a fourfold higher prevalence of unruptured IAs, independent of other risk factors.
- Findings suggest a potential role of atherosclerosis in the pathogenesis of IAs.
- Further prospective studies are needed to confirm TBI's role in IA risk stratification.
