School education strategies for enhancing nursing students' resilience: A scoping review

To synthesize existing evidence on school-based strategies related to resilience in nursing students.

A scoping review was conducted following the Preferred Reporting Items for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) and the recommendations of the Joanna's Briggs Institute (JBI). The search timeframe is restricted to the period from each database's inception to October 2025 to ensure comprehensive coverage of relevant literature. We searched the following databases: Embase, CINAHL, WOS, PubMed, and Wiley. A total of 1679 articles were identified from the initial search. Duplicates were removed, and then the research team screened articles by title, abstract, and full text to ensure eligibility. Twelve articles were ultimately included.

Twelve papers were ultimately selected to address the research questions. Schools primarily employed several educational approaches to cultivate resilience in nursing students: mindfulness-based stress management skills training, self-perception regulation, and Integrating resilience education into the curriculum.

The findings reveal that when nursing students undergo training at school, mindfulness-based stress management skills training (physical), self-perception regulation (psychological), and Integrating resilience education into the curriculum (school-based) can significantly enhance their resilience levels. This helps students cope with stress-related challenges. Future research with more rigorous designs is needed to further validate these findings. Nursing education should prioritize students' mental health to equip them to face life's diverse challenges.
