How pharmacy education and practice cultivate researchers: the Canadian experience

Abstract:
Pharmacists are widely recognized as experts in medication and frontline healthcare providers; however, they are also increasingly essential contributors to health research and innovation. This growing emphasis on research reflects the critical importance of pharmacy education and practice systems in cultivating research knowledge, skills, and the capacity to apply them across diverse practice settings. In this Education Theme Paper, we describe the Canadian education and practice systems and their contributions to the development of pharmacists as researchers. We highlight current processes and opportunities to enhance research training in the future.
