Preparation and Process Optimization of Hot-Pressed Straw-Sulfate Magnesium Cement Composite Panels

Magnesium oxysulfide cement, due to its unique composition, is lightweight and highly fire-resistant. As a new type of inorganic cementitious material, it has considerable application potential in the production of artificial boards. Using wheat straw as the raw material and magnesium oxysulfide cement as the adhesive, straw-magnesium oxysulfide cement artificial boards were prepared through uniform laying and hot pressing. The mechanical properties and water absorption expansion rate of the artificial boards were evaluated. The optimal process parameters were identified through orthogonal experiments. The results indicate that under the optimal conditions (12 min, 120 °C, 7.5 MPa), the manufactured board achieved peak performance. The static bending strength was 6.09 MPa, the elastic modulus was 764 MPa, and the internal bonding strength was 2.21 MPa. Additionally, the 2 h water absorption thickness expansion rate was 242.6%.
