Abstract:
Herein, a photocatalytic strategy for the synthesis of gem-difluoroalkenes by the multicomponent cascade reaction of α-trifluoromethyl alkenes with alkenes and TMSN3 is described. This operationally simple protocol provides a powerful strategy to introduce azido fragments into gem-difluoroalkenes, enriching the current library of gem-difluoroalkenes for drug discovery. A gram-scale synthesis and synthetic applications demonstrate the potential application of this methodology in the synthesis of diverse medicinally relevant compounds.
