Development and Validation of the Short-Form Drama Addiction Motivation Scale: A Network Analysis Approach

This study aimed to develop and validate a Short-Form Drama Addiction Motivation Scale using network analysis to better understand the factors underlying short-form drama addiction. A sample of 625 Chinese university students completed a survey including 19 items related to short-form drama addiction motivation. Network estimation, visualization, centrality index, and network accuracy and stability were conducted using JASP software. The analysis revealed a stable four-cluster structure of nodes, encompassing fantasy gratification, low cognitive load preference, negative emotions, and lack of social connection & belonging. The scale demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties. The developed scale provides a comprehensive and reliable tool for assessing motivation of short-form drama addiction. These findings advance theoretical insights into emerging short-form drama addiction phenomena and offer practical implications for future research and intervention strategies.
