Abstract:
Citrate metabolism remains poorly understood during mitosis, raising unresolved questions about citrate dynamics, compartmentalization, and targeting in cancer. Here, we propose a comprehensive model to explain how ATP-citrate lyase degradation at mitotic onset induces a transient citrate peak, promoting histone H3 phosphorylation and mitotic progression, while mitotic exit relies on acetate-driven lipogenesis.
