The pull of the macula: Optic disc dragging in large macular coloboma

Macular coloboma is an excavation at the macula with defective or rudimentary retinal tissue. Here, we present an unusual case of large bilateral macular coloboma with dragging of optic disc. A 48-year-old diabetic male patient presented to our outpatient department with a history of diminution of vision and squint since childhood. Dilated fundus examination revealed bilateral large well-defined excavation at the macula with optic disc displaced temporally and temporal arcade vessels appeared straightened. Rest of the retina was normal. Optical coherence tomography and B-scan ultrasonography findings were consistent with macular coloboma. Association of optic disc dragging and straightened temporal retinal vessels with macular coloboma is a rare entity and aids in exclusion of other differentials.
