Abstract:
Left atrial disk prolapse through the atrial septal defect (ASD) into the right atrium is a common challenge during ASD device closure. We describe a novel closure technique for large secundum ASDs, leveraging the pivoting mechanism in newer devices. This innovative approach optimizes device alignment with the interatrial septum while reducing the risk of disk prolapse. The report outlines the technical details and key procedural considerations for this closure method, demonstrating its potential advantages in challenging ASD anatomies.
