Background:
This study assessed effectiveness of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccination in mothers.
Methods:
This retrospective cohort study used TriNetX, a database of multicenter health records with the US as the major contributor. Eligible participants were pregnant women with a medical encounter at 28 weeks of gestation or later and who underwent RSV testing between September 2023 and February 2026. After propensity score matching, the effectiveness of the vaccine against maternal RSV infection was estimated based on risk ratio between the vaccinated and unvaccinated groups.
Results:
Of 2440 and 17,537 vaccinated and unvaccinated patients in the US, 2434 patients from each group were matched. The vaccine effectiveness against RSV infection in vaccinated mothers for 12 months after maternal RSV vaccination was estimated to be 82.1% (95% confidence interval 67.0%-90.3%).
Conclusions:
The maternal RSV vaccination was effective against RSV infection in mothers, indicating an additional benefit of maternal RSV vaccination.

Common Respiratory Disorders
Upper respiratory disorders impact the airways above the vocal cords, encompassing areas like the nose, sinuses, and throat. Various conditions fall under this category, including the common cold and allergic rhinitis. These disorders can stem from several causes,...
Acute Respiratory Failure-II
The underlying physiological abnormalities that contribute to hypoxemic respiratory failure include:
Acute Respiratory Failure-I
Definition: It is defined by specific criteria based on blood gas measurements. Hypoxemia happens when the partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) falls below 60 mmHg. At the same time,...

Assessment of Ventilation I: Respiratory Rate
A Ventilation assessment is critical for monitoring a patient's health status. Respiration, one of the most accessible vital signs, provides insights into the function of numerous body systems and can indicate serious health issues, such as brainstem injuries from head trauma.
Critical Guidelines for Assessing Ventilation:
