In-vitro efficacy of levonadifloxacin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) clinical isolates

Abstract:
Levonadifloxacin is a benzoquinolizine fluoroquinolone with a broad-spectrum activity, including against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This study evaluated the in-vitro susceptibility of MRSA isolates to the novel antimicrobial compound levonadifloxacin. A total of 364 MRSA clinical isolates obtained from diverse clinical specimens were tested using E-test MIC strips. Antimicrobial susceptibility data were analysed using WHONET 2024. Levonadifloxacin exhibited potent in-vitro activity against MRSA isolates, with MIC50 and MIC90 values of 0.38 μg/ml and 0.5 μg/ml, respectively, and 98.3% susceptibility. These findings support levonadifloxacin as a promising therapeutic option for MRSA infections.
