Right ventricular outflow tract thrombus associated with pulmonary embolism in Behçet's syndrome

Abstract:
Behcet syndrome is a well-recognized systemic vasculitis that predominantly affects populations from the Mediterranean basin and East Asia (1). Although it can involve multiple organs, cardiac manifestations remain rare, ranging from pericarditis and myocarditis to coronary artery involvement and intracardiac thrombus (2). The latter is a very dire complication, typically forming in characteristic locations and exhibiting distinct features. We report a case of a young Moroccan patient presenting with a large pedunculated thrombus in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT), associated with pulmonary embolism. This unusual localization highlights the variability of cardiac involvement in Behçet's syndrome and underscores the importance of early recognition for optimal management.
