Summary

Belantamab mafodotin treatment in multiple myeloma patients may cause a benign condition called Macro-LDH. Recognizing this phenomenon prevents unnecessary tests and reduces patient burden.

Background:

  • Belantamab mafodotin (Belamaf) is an anti-BCMA antibody-drug conjugate used for relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM).
  • Elevated lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) is a common finding in cancer patients, but its specific association with Belamaf treatment requires investigation.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the occurrence and characteristics of elevated LDH levels in RRMM patients treated with Belamaf.
  • To identify potential associations between Belamaf treatment and Macro-LDH formation.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 40 RRMM patients treated with at least two cycles of Belamaf.
  • Clinical evaluation for Macro-LDH diagnosis in affected patients.
  • Multivariate analysis to identify factors associated with elevated LDH.
